Catalyst Video Services were recently commissioned to provide aerial photography for a potential development area on the new A14 route which is currently under construction.
The aerial photography project involved the use of our DJI drone to photograph a particular section of the new motorway and necessitated the permission of two different land-owners and Highways England. As the area to be photographed is intersected by a busy road the photo shoot had to be split into two take off and landing points so that we didn’t fly over the road (so conforming to CAA regulations).
Fraction of the cost
By using the latest video drone technology Catalyst were able to provide a photographic service that would previously have been the domain of full sized helicopters, enabling our client to get amazing aerial shots at a fraction of the cost.
All the aerial photography shots were taken in raw format and edited back in the studio to produce HD images suitable for use by the client’s architectural practice.

Aerial photography
As well as aerial video Catalyst also supply HD quality aerial photography for a range of clients and businesses using a CAA approved video drone. The drone can be flown up to a height of 400 feet and to a distance of 500 meters in any direction (following the strict rules laid down by the CAA). Once up in the air the stabilised gimbal enables the onboard camera to take incredibly still video and images allowing for the drone to take a series of shots which, once back in the studio, can be stitched together to create panoramic stills. The on-board camera can also take HDR (high dynamic range) shots producing beautifully exposed images even when shooting straight towards the sun.
